Agtergrond van die Stigting / Background of the Foundation

In 1978 het Sippo van Ewijck van de Bilt (1902 - 1978) 'n Trustfonds gestig met die doel om die kulturele betrekkinge tussen Nederland en Suid-Afrika in die ruimste sin te bevorder.

Wyle mnr van Ewijck was 'n Nederlander wat vir ongeveer 40 jaar afwisselened in Kaapstad en Nederland gewoon het, jare lank voorsitter van die Algemeen Nederlands Verbond (Kaapstad) was en 'n groot liefde vir Suid-Afrika gehad het.

In 1978 Sippo van Ewijck van de Bilt (1902 - 1978) formed a Trust fund for the purpose of promoting cultural relations in the widest sense between the Netherlands and South Africa.

The late Mr van Ewijck was a Netherlander who lived alternatively in Cape Town and the Netherlands for about 40 years. He was for many years Chairman of the Algemeen Nederlands Verbond (Cape Town) and had a great love for South Africa.

 

Doel van die Stigting / Aim of the Foundation

Die doel van die Stigting is om finansiële steun te verleen aan persone en instansies wat hulle daarvoor beywer om kulturele betrekkinge in die ruimste sin tussen Nederland en Suid-Afrika te bevorder, met insluiting van o.a. die volgende:

  • die bewaring van die Nederlandse kultuurerfenis in Suid-Afrika

  • die bevordering van die belange van Nederlandse of Suid-Afrikaanse verenigings met doeleindes wat ooreenstem met die van die Stigting

  • die toekenning van studieskenkings of lenings aan verdienstelike persone wat in Suid-Afrika of Nederland wil studeer of navorsing doen in 'n rigting wat ooreenstem met die doel van die Stigting.

  • die toekenning van 'n spesiale, jaarlikse prys aan 'n persoon/organisasie vir 'n verdienstelike projek  binne die raamwerk van die doelstellings van die Stigting. Verwys ook na "SPECIAL AWARDS"

In uitsonderlike gevalle word hulp verleen aan persone of gesinne van Nederlandse afkoms in Suid-Afrika wat finansieel behoeftig is.

The aim of the Foundation is to give financial aid to persons and institutions who strive to promote cultural relations in the widest sense between the Netherlands and South Africa, including the following:

  • the preservation of the Dutch cultural heritage in South Africa

  • the promotion of the interests of Dutch or South African societies with aims similar to those of the Foundation

  • the awarding of study grants or loans to deserving persons wishing to study or to do research in South Africa or in the Netherlands in academic fields which are consistent with the aims of the Foundation.

  • The granting of  a special, annual award to a person/organisation for a meritorious project within the framework of the aims of the Foundation. See also SPECIAL AWARDS.

In exceptional cases aid is rendered to persons or families of Dutch descent in South Africa who are in financial need.
